Harvest creates new ventures through a synergetic portfolio model. We co-build companies centred around an initial ‘keystone’ company that has a tremendous opportunity at capturing significant market share.
Synergies arise by identifying white spaces in the product road map of our existing companies and creating new ventures to address them. This allows us to build a portfolio where our companies enter mutually beneficial partnerships and become more competitive overall.
We begin by identifying and sizing a market opportunity. This is key in determining whether the problem is worth solving, and allows us to place our resources in those ideas with the biggest potential.
We solution avenues for monetizing the identified market opportunity. This includes defining product features, customer segments and operational costs. We’ll then develop the business models for sustainable, continuous growth.
We’ll position brand and product differentiators, and develop a MVP to test key assumptions. By using internal and external resources to critique, refine and review the product, we can further perform market validation tactics to assess product-market fit.
Harvest will support its early stage companies during its first raises and structuring of the rounds. We also assist with grant writing and government relations.
Identifying founders with passion and the skillset to execute on the venture’s vision is key. While a defined team must be in place at the time of the first raise, the earlier founding members join a Harvest venture, the better for the company and the more ability to shape its future.
Canadian banks are antiquated due to lack of competition and outdated technology. We believe banking should be a great experience for customers and businesses alike. Harvest’s FinTech portfolio is aimed at setting a new standard for financial services in Canada.
The insurance space is held back with complex agreements, unclear premiums and cumbersome claims processes. We believe insurance doesn’t need to be difficult. Harvest’s InsurTech portfolio is aimed to provide smarter solutions and policies where Canadians come first.
The rental experience for Canadian tenants, landlords and property managers has been the same for decades. It’s costly, time consuming and simply inefficient. Harvest’s PropTech portfolio aims to build ventures which help solve these inefficiencies for good.
